Top Sights

The combination of the Bavarian Lion and the striking new lighthouse are probably the most famous sights and are considered the city’s landmarks. Together, they form the entrance to Lindau Harbor. Just after the harbor entrance stands the 20-meter-high Mangturm, which lost its function as a signal and observation tower with the construction of the new lighthouse. Nevertheless, the 91 steps to the top are worth it – in summer, fairy tale hours for adults are regularly offered here.

Culture & Events

The Lindau Marionette Opera is Germany’s only puppet stage where exclusively musical theater is performed. After the performance, visitors are allowed to go behind the scenes and ask questions.

The city theater also regularly hosts cabaret and small-scale art events, as well as guest performances by renowned artists and ensembles.

In addition to the city theater, Lindau has several museums and exciting exhibitions on art and natural history.

Other top events include the Lindau Annual Fair, Apple Weeks, and the Lindau Harbor Christmas Market.

Cuisine

Whether traditional or modern, the Lindau region is characterized by and known for its Bavarian, Swabian, Austrian, and Swiss specialties in every form. Especially delicious juices and ciders, award-winning wines, and regional beers are produced by local farmers.
