Thionville
Top sights
The city’s landmark is the 14th-century belfry. Two lock bridges from the 18th century have also been preserved. They were built to protect Thionville from flooding. The Gate of Saarlouis, the former city gate from the 18th century, can also be seen. Thionville’s long history is especially evident in its well-preserved buildings.
Culture & Events
The archaeological and historical museum “de la Tour aux Puces” is housed in an 800-year-old tower, known as the Flea Tower. There, you can discover archaeological finds and the legends of the region.
Culinary delights
Thionville is located in an excellent wine-growing area. You have the opportunity to taste Moselle wines as well as the famous “Lorraine beer”. A quiche or tarte flambée would go very well with it.
