Top sights

In the center of the village is the village square with the town hall and the Egetmann fountain. This fountain was built and unveiled by the association of the same name. It features a round fountain with a cow, a woman with a basket, and Egetmann Hansl. The customs association celebrates the Egetmann Hansl parade in Tramin. This is a colorful carnival festival with traditional costumes that depicts a wedding scene.

The churches and chapels from different artistic periods are also particularly worth seeing.

Culture & Events

A place full of culture and history. In the Tramin village museum, you can learn about the past and present of the community. The “Hoamet” museum provides insights into life in Tramin and South Tyrol as a home. Here, the characteristics and challenges of South Tyrolean life are discussed.

The cultural monuments of Tramin are no less impressive. On the vine-covered hill above the village center stands the sacred church of St. Jakob in Kastelaz. Inside, you can see the oldest Romanesque frescoes in the German-speaking world, and outside, the highest free-standing brick church tower in Tyrol.

Cuisine

Wine plays a particularly important role. As the name Gewürztraminer suggests, Tramin is the origin of this wine. The inhabitants are naturally very proud of this, which is why numerous wine-related events take place here. The International Gewürztraminer Symposium, the Gewürztraminer Wine Road Festival, the Traminer Weingassl, and the Gewürztraminer Kuchl celebrate Tramin's “liquid gold.” Of course, the appropriate dishes are served to accompany the wine. However, this fine wine can not only be tasted at events, but also in the excellent restaurants and wine taverns. South Tyrolean cuisine is unique and special. This is also evident in Tramin. Down-to-earth dishes from Tyrol combined with light classics from Mediterranean cuisine bring together the best products from the region. Everyone will find something to their taste on Tramin's menus.
